Healthy French Toast in a Mug

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of AllWhites Egg Whites. The opinions and text are all mine.

Hello! I love a good mug recipe and this one is a healthy take on French Toast in a mug. But if you’re feeling a little indulgent you can take it up a notch with toppings.

Using whole wheat bread and egg whites make a mug packed full of delicious protein and whole grains to keep ya full. Top it with nuts or nut butter for healthy fat and you’ll be fueled up with a super quick breakfast.

AllWhites® 100% liquid egg whites is a convenient, fat-free, cholesterol-free and low-calorie source of lean protein – ideal for providing you the energy you need for everyday.

    Instructions
    1. Directions: Chop banana and bread into bite sized pieces. Mix remaining ingredients together in a small bowl. Spray mug with non-stick cooking spray. Place bread and bananas in mug – layering so it’s evenly dispersed. Pour egg whites mixture over bread. Microwave for 1 minute. Mix. Microwave again for another 1-2 minutes or until set. Let sit for a few minutes. (Careful, the mug will be HOT.) Top with maple syrup, PB, yogurt, banana, nuts… whatever you want!
    Recipe Notes

*Careful. The mug will be very hot after cooking. Let it cool down before touching.

    – Are they taller or shorter than me?

    – What color shirt are they wearing? Is that their favorite color or just whatever’s clean?

Top 5 Advocare Sale and Variety Pack!

Hello!! How are you? Hope you had the best Thanksgiving!! I’m just checking in for a second to share the super sale from Advocare. They only offer discounts and the Spark and Rehydrate variety pack once a year – so if you’re interested definitely get it now.

    image

    1. Rehydrate is my favorite electrolyte replacement drink for running and working out. You can use it during your mid-distance and long runs or after a super sweaty session.

    rehydraterehydrate drink for runners

You definitely need to figure out your fuel and hydration plan if you’re training for a half marathon or full marathon. This is a good option for your water bottle. If you’ve never tried it before – check out the variety pack with 5 flavors.

If you already have your favorite – get it now and make sure to use it in training. You need to know how much fuel and hydration your body needs (this changes based on distance and weather). Rehydrate comes in a canister or stick packs. My favorite is Key Lime Cherry because I like a citrus drink while I’m running.

    rehydrate running drink

Get the Rehydrate Variety Pack here.

    2. Spark is a vitamin and amino acid drink mix. A lot of people drink it before running or workout out. I usually drink it mid-morning or around 2pm for a pick-me-up. It has B vitamins and I just feel like it gives me a boost of energy that’s better than coffee or something else.

My favorite Spark flavors are – Mango Strawberry  // Fruit Punch  // Pineapple Coconut // Blue Raspberry

    addicted to spark (496x662)

This is how my desk looks most of the time (messy) and … water bottle , Spark in the metal cup, snacks…

    spark and cereal (800x600)

A lot of people like the watermelon flavor but I eat so much watermelon I usually skip that one. I like them all except grape (actually I don’t know if I’ve ever tried it but I don’t like grape flavored drinks – ha!).

    advocare spark sale

Get the Spark Variety Pack here.

    3. Gingerbread Protein Bars – these are only available during the holidays and they always sell out.

    advocare gingerbread bar

    4. Fit Pack with free Bag – The Fit Pack has a pre-workout supplement / during workout drink / post-workout protein drink. And it comes with a drawstring bag right now.

    advo fit pack discount

Get the Fit Pack with Bag (while supplies last) here.

    5. O2 Gold Supplement – I use this before running, usually long runs or hard workouts.

    o2 gold

Or… I guess while wrapping presents? Ha! I found this picture on my computer while putting this post together….

If you have any questions on these tools or about fueling for running – let me know. You can leave a comment here or email me – RunEatRepeat@gmail.com

5 Reasons to Dress Up for Your Holiday Race…

Running a holiday themed race or fun run this season? Well, it’s the perfect time to take your running gear up a notch and sport a colorful holiday inspired costume! The Lexus Lace Up Riverside Race is December 3rd and good time to welcome the holidays with some red and green gear.

lexus lace up riverside half marathon 7 (450x800) (450x800)

Still hesitant? Here are 5 reasons to run a holiday race in costume…

    1. Make new Running Buddies…

Dress up like a reindeer and find the rest of your pack… or run in a elf costume and ask other elf-runners what they’re working on in Santa’s Workshop. It sounds a little cheesy but on race day there are tons of high fiving strangers and random  chatting in the porta-potty line. A fun costume  is a great conversation starter.

The nervous energy of race morning can make us want to talk and connect with fellow runners. And wearing something fun is an easy way to lighten the mood and focus on fun. Even if your new friendship only lasts 6.2 miles (or maybe 13.1) – it makes the race a more memorable experience.

Screen Shot 2017-10-24 at 11.02.41 AM

    2. Get your money’s worth from that Ugly Sweater…

Ugly sweater parties are now a super common holiday tradition. So you might already have one – might as well get your money’s worth from it! Feel free to bust it out a second time and wear it for your holiday race this year. Hey, some runs have post-race parties that rival the best holiday get-together. This might end up being the most fun you have in that itchy thing.

Bonus points if it lights up like this one!

Screen Shot 2017-10-24 at 11.01.30 AM

    3. One word: Sparkle

There is so much sparkle in holiday decorations… twinkling lights, snowflakes,  shiny ribbons, the star at the top of a Christmas tree… and now YOU! Get in the holiday fun run spirit by dressing up in glittery green and red gear.

Running a race in a sparkly skirt or headband is super festive without necessarily being a costume. So you can wear something like a red or green Sparkle Skirt or Holiday Edition ProCompression socks again and again.

Bonus: It will be easier for your family and friends to spot you as you race by in sparkly clothes  or a light-up reindeer head band.

    image

    (source: Sparkle Athletic)

    4. It’ll put the finishing touch on that Christmas Playlist for Running you’ve been listening to…

While some people groan at the start of holiday tunes the day after Halloween… it’s finally time to embrace Christmas classics – especially songs that are great for running! Add Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas’ and other holiday / workout friendly songs to your playlist and enjoy the gift of running while getting into the holiday spirit.

There are tons of great Christmas songs to listen to while you run! One of the best ones actually has the word “run” in the title – twice! This is Run Run Rudolph by Kelly Clarkson

And you can channel Rudolph even better if you’re running dressed like him!

    5. Santa should WIN!

If you dress up as Santa Claus most runners will NOT want to pass you for fear of ending up on the “Naughty List”!

Do not – I repeat DO NOT pass Santa Claus on a run… Apparently that’s grounds for sending you straight to the naughty list no matter how good you’ve been this year. You’ve been warned. (Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself because that guy is fast and I don’t think I could pass him if I wanted to!)

Life Hack: If you dress up like Santa Claus no one will want to pass you!

    Pile on the Miles–LAST DAY!!

This is it! You made it!! It’s the last day of the Pile on the Miles Challenge for this year! Congratulations!!

    It’s National Gingerbread Cookie Day….

    gingerville

My favorite running quote (right now anyway):

There will come a day when you can no longer do this.Today is NOT that day. (800x800)

    Running Tips:

You can give another runner ONE tip. What is it?

Well… it kinda depends on what their goal is…

For a new runner I’d say go slow. Slower than that.

For someone who wants to run a half marathon or marathon… If I can do it – YOU can do it.

What do you do when you feel like quitting? Have a mantra? Trick? Other??

Cry. Cuss. Not necessarily in that order. Then, tell myself to show the hell up and push.

What’s your secret to staying motivated?

I love running. There’s no secret to that. I think you should find something YOU love and do that. Then, you might have to push yourself in a long training run if you have a goal but if it’s just for health or fitness you’ll look forward to it.

Lexus Lace Up Half Marathon – Palos Verdes

    Fast facts on the race:

    – GORGEOUS course along the Pacific Ocean

    – HILLY AF. But I’m not sure if it was hillier than the Avocado Half Marathon. (This is in comparison to half marathons, not full marathons.)

    – BEST  runner perks – water bottles from Lexus after the race, food trucks – and every runner gets a ticket for food, free race pictures…

    – Smallish for an Los Angeles area race.

You can give another runner ONE tip. What is it?

“Just ONE?!?! If you’re going to run long distances find the right underwear for you. It could even be no underwear! Whatever you choose a good pair can make all the difference in chaffing.”

What do you do when you feel like quitting? Have a mantra? Trick? Other??

“When I feel like quitting in a run I will usually do run walk for a but to give myself a break. I also remind myself that running is supposed to be fun and to stop being so worried about pace, time, etc and to just remember how incredibly lucky I am to be able to run and test myself mentally and physically.”

What’s your secret to staying motivated?

“Having someone to talk to about running, even if we don’t run together just someone to complain to, get tips and encouragement from. Having a running buddy helps keep me motivated and let’s me know everyone is always working on/towards their own idea of improving their running. Also eating, I love eating at least I can justify what I eat by the fact that, ‘I did a long run.’”
